Introducing Outclass

Outclass is a Toronto-based lifestyle brand committed to producing carefully crafted menswear essentials in Canada.

Officially launched in 2011, Outclass started with an idea: to create a Canadian-made menswear brand that produces quality-driven, timeless clothing for the modern man. Creator and designer Matteo Sgaramella draws inspiration from his Canadian/Italian heritage, integrating sophisticated Italian styling and manufacturing techniques with durable materials suitable for the Canadian environment. Together, with his wife Rebecca Sarracini, they're committed to producing top quality, Canadian-made clothing. This commitment is the driving force behind the brand.

The mission at Outclass has always been to revive the Canadian manufacturing industry by educating customers on the importance of supporting local makers and craftsmen. At one time Canada had a thriving garment industry with expertise in denim, knitwear and leather goods. Some of the most discriminating brands across the world produced their garments in Canada because of the reputation these factories acquired. The factory owners who managed to survive the industry-wide shift overseas did so through their perseverance and dedication for quality.

Each Outclass garment is manufactured by factories whose passionate owners stand by their craft. Founder Matteo, combed the Greater Toronto Area to find the factories, each specializing in different garment styles. Outclass shirting is produced by a third-generation, family-run factory in North York. Their pants are made on Spadina Avenue, in one of the last original factories in Toronto's historic garment district. The close relationships and proximity to the factories allow Outclass to make frequent visits and take a hands-on approach to ensure quality standards are met.

Materials are sourced responsibly, and Canadian-made fabric is used whenever possible to reduce Outclass' ecological footprint. All fabric used for Outclass T-shirts and athletic wear is knit in the Toronto Suburb of Scarborough, then dyed and processed in Ajax, Ontario. Shirting fabric is sourced from some of the top mills in Spain, Portugal and Italy and Merino wool yarn is imported from Germany. Outclass products are built to last, with a strong focus on durability, providing customers with an alternative to the constant consumerism that feeds fast fashion.
